Gilkey Window Company hits all my check boxes.
Highly recommend checking them out.
Most window and door companies hire "sales people", NOT "Window Educational Specialists" and that's NOT where the problems end; (that's just where they begin). Every time I speak with a client the words "frustrating and confusing" are usually what's expressed first.
Step 1- Phone conversation to lay out expectations.
Step 2-- after making payment to
Zelle: 423-444-3467
or
Venmo: @Jay-Johnson-908
Call me after payment submission to confirm payment went through and I'll contact you shortly after to discuss your window project.
I'll email you a 3 page questionnaire with a very specific list of questions to ask each company you have out for presentations (up to 4 companies). I offer consulting services starting at $125 for up to 60 minutes, $30 for each additional 1/2 hour.
Step 3- You'll have a WindowPurchase.com "report card" to fill out that corresponds directly to to the 3 page questionnaire.
Step 4- final step - after you're done getting quotes, email the WindowPurchase.com report card to jaysroadtrip@gmail.com.
After I receive your payment I'll call you so we can discuss which company(s) I would recommend and which ones I wouldn't even consider and explain to you why.
You can contact me directly at 1-423-444-3467 to schedule your appointment time or scroll down to the very bottom and fill out the form.
(Remember to include your phone number if you want me to call you.)
I get calls from frustrated clients all over the United States asking me about windows, doors. manufacturers, different types of framing materials, glass options, and the list goes on and on.
Many questions are the same but so are most of the "assumptions".
Windows are extremely important to a homes aesthetics, efficiency, interior noise level, interior fading, and in some cases security and safety.
Choosing windows isn't easy and choosing the right company is even harder. To be able to do this with any degree of sanity and confidence one would have to know exactly what to "ask" and exactly what to " look" for.
Most companies hire "sales people", NOT "Window Educational Specialists" and that's NOT where the problems end; (that's just where they begin).
Every time I speak with a client the words "frustrating and confusing" are usually what's expressed first.
Windows aren't exactly cheap and even cheaply made windows aren't cheap, (same thing with doors).
So if you're looking for help, a great starting point is to purchase my book on Amazon, Kindle, or Barnes and Noble.
It has specific questions for you to ask as well as what to look for when sales people come out to give you estimates. You'll find out pretty quick that most sales people will be unable or unwilling to answer many of the questions that you need answers to.
If you still want help beyond the book "Shopping for Windows 101" I offer consulting services starting at $125 for up to 90 minutes, $30 for each additional 1/2 hour.
So far I've haven't had an appointment last more than 2 hours but most have been within an hour.

Homeowners DO NOT know "HOW" to shop for windows and doors.
21 years in the business, published 3 books on windows and doors, traveled to Germany and Canada and all over the U.S. to get a real education on these types of products.
Never met a client yet that has any idea the right questions to ask or exactly what they should be looking for.
Homeowners are making way too many assumptions, wasting time and money.
When I started in this business in 2001 I had no idea windows and doors were this complicated.
I thought a window is a window and a door is a door; and I couldn't have been more wrong.
A famous saying by Mark Twain is "It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so".
I have yet to meet a client that has any clue what-so-ever what to look for or what to ask when shopping for these types of products.
You'll get 'Specific" questions to ask about each one of these.
You'll also have access to specific videos and pictures to help you understand "exactly" what to look for, as well as what to ask.

If you’re in the market for windows and you’ve been shopping around getting quotes, sitting through one presentation after another, visiting showrooms, and doing some research on the internet; then I have a Question for You.
How do you know you have the right information; and do you have enough information to truly know what you’re doing and to make an educated decision on windows?
Based on my 20 years in the window and door business, consulting with roughly 10,000 clients, writing 3 books on the subject, and building a website literally based on the information clients lack, the answer is a definite “NO”.
If you really think you’re ready to decide which window company to choose based on “Factual” information; take the test below and see how many questions you can answer correctly.
Keep in mind this test is NOT designed to make anyone feel stupid; but is specifically designed to teach you how much information you’re still lacking.
If you’ve really been getting relevant and specific information from the sales people you’ve had out then you should easily be able to answer most of the questions listed below.
If you can’t answer most of them then you’re still lacking the information you’d need to make an informed decision.
The answers will only be available to clients that email me through windowpurchase.com as they will be sent an “invitation to access the answers on my website, as well as have access to my exclusive page “Installation FAQ’s”.
These 75 questions are in no particular order and some questions may have multiple correct answers.

Many people have asked what my background is. Why do I spend a lot of time and money writing books to help people?
My philosophy is you never stop learning and to help others when you can.
I find that you learn more having an open mind along with having the willingness to teach others that are eager to learn or are simply less fortunate.
I have an extremely diverse background that has afforded me the opportunity to pass on pertinent and useful information to the people I come in contact with.
I've worked in law enforcement, asset protection, owned a martial arts school, EMT certified, rescue diver certified, and have been an advisor in the window and door industry since 2001.
WindowPurchase.com came about because of the 3 informational books I've written on windows and doors.
My research has taken me to Germany, Canada, and multiple facilities in the United States that pertain to windows, doors, glass, bay/bow shell manufacturing, and sound testing.
My last book called "What Window Companies Don't Want You to Know" was published in 2012 on Amazon, Kindle, and Barnes and Noble.
But now as of March 2020 my brand new book called "Shopping for Windows 101" is completely revised and now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kindle
I've looked at all of the window books on Amazon and they all have one of two things in common.
Either someone is trying to sell you on a particular brand, and/or no one is giving you specific information on (the right questions you should be asking), or (exactly how to compare one type of window to another).
Every window book I've read falls short of this.
I've also consulted for more than 10,000 window and door clients and have done public speaking and training seminars on windows and doors.
My name is Jay Johnson and I call myself the "Doing It Right Guy" because I believe in doing it right the first time.
I like writing books that help people do things more effectively, efficiently, and safely.
I started WindowPurchase.com to help people understand what the right questions are to ask.
When people say "you get what you pay for" ,
I disagree.
I believe you only get what you pay for when you know exactly what you're buying.
I also have zero tolerance for bullies, scam artists, charlatans, and high pressure sales people taking advantage of someone less knowledgeable or weaker.
I'm also available for seminars and speaking engagements or interviews for TV, radio, pod casts, schools, and churches.
If you have a specific product you would like me to consider endorsing or would like to have me as your spokesperson for videos or commercials please fill out the contact form at the bottom of this page.

Beginners Guide to Gun Ownership is 198 pages.
You have a very interesting and timely compilation. With the current issue of gun violence in our country, your book will be a valuable resource for those looking to better protect themselves and their families.
I whole-heartedly agree – “Guns are to be respected, lack of an education on guns is to be feared”. Your book is well written and it’s clear that you have put a good deal of thought and effort into the development of your manuscript.

The main problem I see repeated over and over on the internet is the majority of the information on windows and doors is very biased trying to lead you into buying a specific brand.
"Shopping for Windows 101" gives you the specific questions you need to be asking; straight and to the point, no matter what type of window you're shopping for.
If you're the type of client that's really trying to pick a better than average window or door that's exactly what my service is designed to do.
